No-Cook Pizza Sauce

Jump to Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 (14.5 oz) can whole or crushed tomatoes (San Marzano recommended)
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Sugar to taste (optional)

Make the Sauce

If you are using whole tomatoes, pour them into a medium mixing bowl. Use your hands to squeeze and crush the tomatoes until they are at your desired consistency.

Add the minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, dried oregano, and salt to the bowl.

Stir everything together with a spoon.

Taste the sauce. If it’s too acidic from the tomatoes, add a small pinch of sugar to balance it. Adjust salt if needed.

The sauce is ready to use immediately, but the flavor will be even better if you make it an hour ahead (or the day before) and let it rest in the fridge.

No-Cook Pizza Sauce

prep time:10 minutes
total time:10 minutes
This is a fast, no-cook pizza sauce that cooks in the oven on the pizza itself. The most important part is using high-quality canned tomatoes, like San Marzano. Hand-crushing whole tomatoes gives a chunkier texture, but standard crushed tomatoes work fine.

Ingredients

  • 1 can whole or crushed tomatoes (San Marzano recommended) 14.5 oz
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Sugar to taste optional

Instructions

  • Crush whole tomatoes by hand in a medium bowl.
  • Add minced garlic, olive oil, oregano, and salt.
  • Stir ingredients together.
  • Taste and add sugar if sauce is too acidic.
  • Let sauce rest in fridge for best flavor.

Notes

Best if made ahead of time. San Marzano tomatoes recommended.
